The R600 Road Bicycle was a very popular model for the Cannondale company and has seen many annual re-releases over the years. First released in 1993, the R600 was priced and marketed as a midrange road bike. Its reputation as a light yet sturdy and reliable choice for the seasoned cyclist lasted more than a decade, and it was last released in 2004.
Sizing and General Information
The Cannondale R600 is available in 48 cm, 50 cm, 52 cm, 54 cm, 56 cm, 58 cm, 60 cm and 62 cm. It is marketed as a road race/triathlon bicycle, and the 2004 model is available in blue/white and red. It retailed new for $1,099.99 but can be found much cheaper used.
Frame and Fork
The frame is constructed from TIG-welded 6061 T6 aluminum. The fork model is a Cannondale Ultra Slice Si and is made from Carbon fiber composite material. It comes equipped with an alloy steerer and a unicrown crown.
Derailleurs and Drivetrain
The R600 comes with Shimano 105 STI Dual Control shift levers. The front derailleur is a Shimano Tiagra, and the rear a Shimano 105 SS. The crankset is a TruVativ Elita LR with two chain rings each bearing 39/53 teeth. The bottom bracket is a TruVativ ISIS spline. The rear cassette is nine-speed with a tooth range of 12-26. The chain is 1/2 x 3/32 inch. Pedals are not included.
Brakes, Headset and Saddle
The bicycle’s brakes are Cannondale Theta brakes with Shimano 105 STI Dual Control levers. The handlebar is a Cinelli Altera, which does not come with extensions. The stem is a forged Cannondale 3-D and the headset a 1 1/8″ threadless FSA. The saddle is a Fi’zi:k Pave with chrome-moly rails and the seatpost is made from micro-adjustable aluminum.
The R600 comes with Gipiemme T3 hubs. The rims are 24-hole Gipiemme T3, and the tires are 700 x 23c Continental Ultra 3000. Spokes are also Gipiemme stainless steel.
