Dragonflies

First attempts at insect macros in IR... a couple of dragonflies photographed at the Botanic Gardens today using the R72 filter:

This dragonfly had dark reddish brown opaque wings under visible light. The wings however appeared translucent under IR.

Both are beautiful shots, Tomcat. I specially like the #2 cos' of the wings.

Good work!

I like that shot too. The first one is a bit out of focus. I was surprised by the 'see-thru' effect and wanted to shoot more dragonflies and other insects but was already late for an appointment and on top of that, ran out of storage space. So only managed to get 2 shots.

Will definitely try to go the SBG more often for such shoots. Maybe I will try to shoot people to see if there's any 'see-thru' effects too. 36_1_21.gif
