A couple of test shots using a IR-enabled Sony DSC-P200 and X-Nite XDP high resolution wideband IR filter:

I like #2, you've managed to capture quite a lot of the flower's details and there's enough contrast between fore and background to make the flower standout.

#1 is a little cluttered. Although the flower is sharp, too much of the background's details are also in "clear" view, making it hard to focus on the flower. Perhaps a little less DOF?

Just my 2¢.

Thanks for sharing.

Thanks for your comment.

Unfortunately, the P200 is a pocketable P&S digicam and not a DSLR and like all such digicams has very 'good' DOF. You can't just dial down the DOF as you wish with such digicams. Maybe next time when I converted my D60 to IR-enabled as well ... 36_1_8.gif

All I can do with such a digicam is to find subjects that are far away enough from the background for future macro photography that's meant for esthetic presentation. Unless I shoot them in a controlled environment like a studio, circumstances sometimes are such that we might not have any choice other than not taking the shot. These 2 test shots were just to test the sharpness and handholdability of the newly acquired P200 for IR macros and not really to demonstrate my skills at taking macros. Hope you understand.

Hee! Hee! The camera is undeniaby sharp and the fact that it is IR enabled is definitely a big plus. Good macros may be a slight issue but I'm thinking that it would be a fantastic camera for outdoor IR wedding shots. Nice backgrounds with sharp facial focus. 36_1_11.gif

Ya lor, ya lor !
That was my thought too - IR wedding shoots, after seeing the photos in the book Digital Infrared Photography by Patrick Rice.
Still trying to do some portrait shots with this camera but ...no nice models to practice on. sad.gif

Another use I just realised and tested with this camera is ... IR video !
Looks very nice in Sepia and B&W
Can also incorporate into wedding portfolio as added feature 36_1_11.gif
