Hello people,

my tripod got killed over the weekend n it's seriously beyond repair so i'll be getting a new tripod head over christmas...
does anyone have any good recommandations?

I would recommend back the similiar tripod (gitzo cf 1028 or 1128). There is a "gitzo" clone made in china and the camera workshop carries it ( benro), costs ~half of a similiar gitzo.

Get a good head (eg acratech, markins, arca swiss b1) ....

and it wasn't me who killed it... why would i do such a thing to my gitzo?!?!

anyway, thanks for those suggestions... can u get any of those tripod head brands in singapore?

Depending on what you want:

Ballheads:
Arca Swiss B1 - big, strong, great reputation (high price)
Markins M10 - smaller, lighter, (cheaper) version of B1
Acratech - strange, even lighter ballhead. I use it and it has no problems taking heavy (>4kg) loads ....
China made arca swiss/markins copies - ??? might be just as good with a lower price ....
Kirk & RRS - not avaliable locally, various models which might be good at a price close to the Arca Swiss B1 ....

Pan-tilt:
My older Manfroto 141RC - super heavy, big, but very accurate....
Another gitzo ???

All are avaliable in Singapore (subject to stock) ....

So still going for pan-tilt head ???

Yeah, did inquire about some of the tripod head prices in singapore and aye, the arca swiss is ridiculously expensive!!! It's still soo expensive when i convent it into pounds! shocking!
So now just waiting for my friend to gimme feedback of the Markins and Acratech prices to consider
How much did u pay for ur acratech? it does look pretty strange but has pretty decent reviews...

And nah, not another gitzo... i personally think they do better pan-tilts heads than ballheads... nothing on their website has my interest
Plus, I don't think I have much luck with gitzos, haha

I cannot remember exactly, but I think it was in the S$350 range, I like it except got to get used to it's "non-standard" stuff... . It's pretty light for the weight it can handle.
