Cats

I have taken many normal photos of my cats but very, very few IR ones. I thought it's time to start taking some so that I can appreciate their beauty in a different light.

Hi tomcat,

Nice photo's !

I rather like cats. Many years ago I had about 4 living with me; but that was quite a long time ago 36_1_44.gif

Is it Willy who's eyes look so green ?

Cheers : )

I think her personality tends to show through in her photos, both normal and IR. She has this very sad look all the time and is a loner as she does not get on well with all the other cats.

But 'IR-photographically' speaking, IR pics of cats are kind of interesting too. They still look somewhat normal to a viewer, especially one who has not seen what the cats actually looked like in visible light, maybe a bit like sepia-toned, unlike trees where the leaves looked white in IR.

The one thing that do look strange in IR photos of cats is the colour of their noses. Reddish or pinkish noses tend to show up as white or whitish like in the last 2 shots and that don't exist in real life. That could come across as 'interesting' in a hard-to-pinpoint way. rolleyes.gif

Thanks, Pablo.

If you like cats like me. and don't have any at the moment, then don't start keeping or you could end up like me with so many ! blink.gif

The one with the 'green' eyes is not Willy but Miu Miu, his grandmother. Her eyes are not that green actually. especially in IR but I had colorised the eyes just for effects. I saw someone did that to a IR pic of her cat in dpreview and was inspired to try that out on my own shots just for fun. The original IR pics without the colorised eyes were posted in Clubsnap.

Hi Pablo,

I have 13 cats living with me.
I also find them to be very intelligent creatures... a lot more intelligent than most people who don't keep cats tend to give them credits for. And they can be very affectionate too. biggrin.gif

Hi tomcat,

WoW..... 13......

You shure DO love cats !

As I have mentioned, I too love cats (only I do not have one at present... tho I did have 4 "many" years ago)

There will be so many personalities you can take photo's of I guess.

Cat's I find are very intelligent and are very close to their owner.... in ways that others don't see....
They only communicate truely with you, when there is no one else around to see it.

Cheers

That's so very true !!
Cats do have many individual personalities. Even siblings from the same litter can have personalities that are as different as day and night.
And they do seem to communicate telepathically with their eyes. I find that they seem to be looking very deeply into your soul trying to talk to you. Most of the time, it is we who are not very receptive to them unfortunately.
